Eligibility Requirements
To apply for a scholarship grant, a candidate must be:
• a resident of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia OR an employee of the City of Charlottesville or Charlottesville City Schools
• a graduating senior or graduate from Charlottesville High School, Jackson P. Burley, or Lane High School OR have obtained a GED OR completed an Individual Student Alternative Plan at CATEC
(City employees are exempt from this requirement)• accepted at an accredited two- or four-year college or technical school
• a citizen of the United States or hold a permanent resident visa.
Applicants will be evaluated based on their past academic performance, employment history, life experiences, and special circumstances noted either by the applicant or by the applicant's references.
Special consideration will be given to applicants who are teacher aides in Charlottesville schools who wish to study to become teachers.
